The V Beam pulsed dye laser is a system designed to rid patients of benign vascular lesions. Pulsed Dye Lasers deliver an intense but gentle burst of light into selectively targeted areas of the skin. The light is absorbed by specific blood vessels or melanin pigmented areas in the dermis depending on the condition being treated. Factors such as the age, color and type of lesions, as well as the location on the body, all determine whether lesions can be removed.
How does the V Beam Laser – Pulsed Dye Laser work?
The laser delivers an intense delivery of yellow light of 595 nanometer wave length of light, therefore, it is a laser with a monochromatic wavelength of light. The light is specifically absorbed by blood vessels in the dermis. These blood vessels are coagulated and then reabsorbed by the body during the natural healing process, i.e. absorbed like a bruise.
The treatment is safe and FDA approved. It is basically painless and it is recommended to avoid the sun before and after the procedure a sunblock of 30 spf with zinc or titanium should be used both pre and post treatment and you can discuss this with your physician before your treatment.
