Which Dermal Filler is Perfect for You?

Dr. Jeffrey A. Klein’s team at HK Dermatology in San Juan Capistrano, California care about the health and appearance of your skin. We offer an array of dermal fillers to help minimize unsightly laugh lines, furrows, tear troughs, mid cheek groove and hallows, smoker’s lines, downturned lips and shriveling lips that creep in with age. Let us rescue you from wrinkles with a range of non-surgical solutions from  Volbella® and Voluma®, to Juvéderm®, Versa®, Radiesse®, Restylane®, and Sculptra®.

All fillers are not alike

Face it, sometimes a little cosmetic help goes a long way to make you feel more vibrant and youthful. Dr. Norma Kassardjian and our other practitioners specialize in helping you choose the best filler to suit your particular issues.

Popular fillers, such as Juvéderm, Restylane, Voluma, Volbella, Vollure, and Revanesse VERSA, use hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance, to turn back the clock on aging skin. They add volume and softness and can be used in tandem with wrinkle relaxers, such as Botox® or Jeuveau®

Our Physicians and Practitioners use hyaluronic acid fillers to:

Non-HA fillers

We also use non-hyaluronic fillers, such as Sculptra Aesthetic. It employs poly-L-lactic acid to replace lost collagen, reducing facial wrinkles with biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic material. Radiesse utilizes synthetic calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) in a water-based gel. It works best on wrinkles around your mouth, hands, and jawline.

Things to consider

Our team evaluates your skin type and particular goals before deciding on the most appropriate dermal filler. We consider:

Natural versus synthetic. According to the International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine (IAPAM), natural fillers containing hyaluronic acid often work better than synthetic ones. They rarely cause any allergic reactions, as well.

Cost. We discuss your options, factoring in how often you’ll need to redo the procedure and the various costs involved.

How the process works

Dr. Kassardjian and our staff inject your dermal filler directly into the area needing volume. We often use extremely thin blunt tipped cannulas to increase comfort, reduce bruising and provide for especially smooth results. Aside from minor redness or swelling at the injection site, most patients experience few to no side effects and minimal downtime. The occasional bruise can be treated with our laser to help it resolve more quickly. We simply:

  1. Evaluate your skin tone, and map the area to treat.
  2. Clean the site with an antibacterial agent.
  3. inject your filler, which usually contains a lidocaine anesthetic to minimize discomfort.
  4. Cleanse the area, and apply an ice pack to reduce swelling.

We generally perform the entire procedure from prep to completion in less than an hour.

Turn back the hands of time

Dermal fillers remain safe and effective when used properly, as in our office. When it’s time to plump up the volume, make your appointment with a member of our talented team at 949-248-1632, or schedule an appointment online. We also offer telemedicine visits.
