New patients looking to join us at HK Dermatology can start by calling our office at (949) 248-1632. One of our staff members will help you find a convenient day and time for your first appointment and can often help you take care of medical paperwork before you ever step foot in the office.
Before your visit, you should receive an email link to register online through OnPatient. Be sure to check your junk or spam folder if you do not see it. The link is valid for seven days, so let us know if you need a new one. If you have any trouble with online registration, you can complete it in the office when you arrive. Additional documents, including medical records releases and the consent to treat a minor, are available on our patient forms page.
What to Bring to Your First Appointment
- A photo ID and your current insurance card
- A list of current medications, supplements, and allergies
- Any referral your insurance plan requires
- Records or pathology reports from previous dermatology care, if available
- A list of questions or spots you would like the provider to look at

Your First Visit
When you arrive for your first appointment, you will check in at the front desk, where a team member will help you finish any paperwork you were unable to complete ahead of time. Next, one of our nurses will review your medical history and discuss your dermatology needs and concerns. Finally, you will sit down with one of our providers to talk through your skin health and begin building a plan to give you the care you deserve.
Many patients also receive a full-body skin exam during their first visit. This is one of the most important tools in preventive care and helps detect early signs of skin cancer, including melanoma and basal cell carcinoma.
